South Burlington, Vermont (August 2012) - With nearly 40 years of success in supporting youth gardens across the country, the National Gardening Association is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2012-2013 Garden Grant cycle, with a new and improved online application available at www.kidsgardening.org.
To optimize the opportunity for youth garden programs to receive funding, community support and publicity, the NGA has designed a Garden Registry and Grant Application system that will benefit youth garden programs, as well as provide a more user-friendly application process. ″Through our grants, Garden Registry and free educational materials on kidsgardening.org, we can continue our important efforts to establish a garden in every school,″ says Mike Metallo, President & CEO of the National Gardening Association. ″The Home Depot, Schiller Grounds Company, Yum! Foundation, Jamba Juice and Subaru, have all provided crucial support in our campaign to create a healthier, more nature-based learning environment for children.″
Three of NGA's flagship garden grants have already launched, with additional grants scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.
The Youth Garden Grant Program, funded by The Home Depot, is once again one of the top sponsors for youth gardens. One hundred awards will be distributed in 2013. The top five applicants will receive a $1000 award and 95 others will receive $500 in funding. The Youth Garden Grant will provide support for both start-up and established gardens.Apply for the 2013 Youth Garden Grant ->
